Child psychiatry (question about college requirements.)? - children psychiatry
So I think going on a field of psychiatry (psychology no)
I did research and tried a few things straight.
According to the article I found is education are necessary to a child psychiatrist:
Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
According to some degree, usually in one of the biological sciences, a psychiatrist, a medical program completely at the age of 4 Then, the psychiatrists a 4-year resident in psychiatry of the child must be completed before seeking board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry. The residency program in May include courses such as outpatient and inpatient psychiatry, outpatient child, adolescent and family therapy, psychiatry, and community counseling, courses, among other things.
So my question is centered around the school.
Does this mean that are not required to have a doctorate or a master?
After a 4-year degree, go directly to medical school?
Mehhhh, can someone explain?

Yes, psychiatry is a medical specialty. Take the pre-disease (biology, chemistry, physics), as a student, then go to medical school - no master's or doctorate. They are a doctor, a physician, a physician.
You can also a PhD if you want, but no doctor in psychiatry. The thesis is in psychology.
Students can major in whatever you want. You can also choose courses outside their major. If you want to go in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, I recommend several courses in psychology. You could major in computer science, but we do not need it.
Psych recommended courses for Bachelor:
Child Psychology and Developmental Psychology
Cognitive Psychology
Neuropsychology
Physiological Psychology
and all others that interest you, such as mental health, psycho-social research methods, etc.
Realize that is the fundamental difference between psychiatrists and psychologists that psychiatrists prescribe medications. These days they are on therapy sessions. Both psychiatrists and psychologicalISTS test and evaluate, diagnose, prescribe treatment, and both can research. Both can lead to have a good advice, but more of them psychologists, at least in the outpatient setting.
They confuse psychology and psychiatry. Psychiatry is a medical degree - because they focus on treating the body with these requirements. You do not need a captain that his medical education and residence, but he warned that his stay is the most difficult to achieve.
Good luck!
